For the month of October, I would like to share with you some quotes and passages from the book Autobiography of a Yogi which shares the life of Paramahansa Yogananda ( January 5, 1893 – March 7, 1952). It was written by Paramahansa Yogananda and details his life long search of the Divine from childhood. As I type this, I’m only about slightly more than half done but felt it would be nice to share some of the passages which caught my attention (and that of my highlighter) πŸ˜‰

I’m planning to go through the parts to share in order of their appearance in the book.

            1. No, there aren’t any Wombie memes. Yet. I meant I should make some. If I can figure out what they really are. And then I could be a famous Wombie!

        1. LOL Sindy! I’ll try to read it and see but something tells me it won’t make sense to me either πŸ˜›

Edited: So I went to the link and tried to read it….nope, didn’t make sense at all! LOL!

    1. How true! It goes back to what I read in the book Journeys Into Emptiness. In the book Dogen’s question was why the need to practice if we all have the Buddha nature and he realizes that to experience what we know we need to actively participate in the community. Or else…there is no value in the knowledge.

Now, if only practicing were just a tiny bit easier πŸ˜‰

  1. Love how you have combined these excerpts with the images, and each one I resonate with.. But the top one about Love shows how still Mankind still has not grasped the concept of unconditional love.. as he still wants to own and possess as he does battle with his jealousies…

    1. Hi Sue!! *waves* Hope you have been well and enjoying your weekend!

Thank you for liking the combinations of images and excerpts πŸ™‚

Yes, it is true isn’t. It is a constant reminding that we need to do to remember that loving is not about possession but about sharing…as my sister pointed out Love is patient and Love is kind..and a whole lot more which it isn’t found in the Bible Corinthians chapter 13.

The thing is…all these stuff that we are being reminded of and being called ‘New Age” can be found in all the religious text, it just needs to be read and understood with a clear mind and heart…both, not just the one!

However, the great news is that it *is* being repackaged as “New Age” so that it feels more palatable for the masses that have sadly become so jaded when viewing religion due to it’s human history.
