Shree wonders…

I know this is an age old question and one that many of us at some point in life have asked ourselves.

Thing is…we may ask it, but we rarely do anything about it. I’m not sure how the working hours and the mindset of employees in other parts of the world are, but over here it’s this absolutely insane “thing” for the majority of employees that if you are the last to leave the office it means you are a hard worker.

What I want to know is, what happened to being smart and effective? And why do we, as employees do this to ourselves? It’s not like the bosses are going to repair our health if we don’t take care of it. It’s not like the company is going to crumble and fall just because you don’t answer an email sent to you at an insane hour of 9 pm by another insane person working till late.

And honestly…everyone is dispensable in the corporate world. In fact, I’ve never understood why we “break out back”…sometimes without even being asked to, to just make the rich…richer.

In another fact, I am SO to be blamed of doing this too! Ha!

  1. I think Shree it dates back to programming… We are told from a young age.. ‘work hard and you will succeed’ Success and being top of our game is something we are taught.. Going back again to labels.. and school days, Being Top of the Class! wanting to please and be recognized by our teachers and our parents that we are worthy and not a failure.. šŸ™‚
