Blog awards by bloggers on WordPress is a “thing”. It’s fun, it allows for people to expand their circle of blogs to visit, it can help form friendships or at the very least a passing connection, it can get a little ridiculous and for some it can get a little tiresome.
For me, I enjoy getting these awards because it helps me with putting up a blog post on things that I wouldn’t have thought of and it has also introduced me to some awesome bloggers.
Dean Kealy from A Wee Bit Wordy nominated me for the Mystery Blogger award. The name of the blog award is hilarious because for those who know a little about me would know that I usually am anything but mysterious. I’m the sort of person who doesn’t get the often cited tip for keeping things interesting in a new relationship by “being a little mysterious”. I’ll just happily prattle on about myself, my past and everything else because..it’s just so hard to remember to be…”mysterious”.
Now, on to the “rules”:
- Put the award logo (badge) in the blog post.
~Points up and ticks this off the list~
- List the rules
~Directs your attention to the text that is in pretty pink and italicised~
- Thank the person who nominated the blog and put a link to said person’s blog.
Thank you Dean for the award!! I was really quite thrilled that you thought of nominating this blog though…after reading the questions I have to answer, I’ll be honest and say that the excitement level dropped fairly quickly..hehe.
- Mention the creator of the award and link their blog as well.
Because this is only polite to do! So here it is:
The creator of this Mystery Blogger award is Okoto Enigma. As an added bonus, I’ve copied this from Dean’s post:
This is why the award was created :
“There are a lot of amazing blogs out there that haven’t been discovered, yet. And, most of these blogs deserve recognition. For that reason, I decided to create my own award; and nominate people who can also nominate others; and so on. This is one of the best ways to create a friendly community and build a link between bloggers in the blogosphere; as everyone gets nominated and they too can spread the fun by nominating more people for the award. I decided to call the award “Mystery Blogger Award.” Why? Because the meaning of my name, “Enigma” is “mystery.” So basically, it’s named after me; the creator. Plus, I think it’s cool because there are so many blogs that are still a mystery to us; and when we get to know them, it’s divine! And we find friends where we least expect.”
- Tell your reader three things about yourself
Hmm..just three things… I’ve done some many of these award blog posts that the three things below will probably sound familiar to those who have been my friends here in WordPress world for some time now. Anyways, the three things are:
- I am a leftie and proud of it!
- I am the elder of two. It’s just my sis and I.
- I have always wanted to know how it would be living in the clouds, like the Care Bears did.
- You have to nominate 10 to 20 bloggers.
~Goes into a mild panic attack and then does a self-facepalm~ To be honest, I don’t have 10 or 20 bloggers to nominate. Most of those whom I would don’t really accept awards, some do…SO this is what I am going to do. I am going to be SMART (read cunning..hehe), and give you a link to a group of awesome bloggers who are working their creative brains to the max, during this month of November!
The brave Nano Poblanos will be revealed to you if you choose to click this << click that.
- Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.
~Berates “smart” self and then bursts out laughing hysterically~
I’ll just mosey along to the Facebook page set up specifically for this and let them all know there.
My post on Facebook:
Dear all brave, wonderful, awesome Nano Poblanos. I am typing out a blog post on the Mystery Blog Award that Dean Kealy so graciously nominated me for. Me being me, I decided for my own sanity (quite selfishly, I might add) that I would have no idea whom to nominate…SO I got smart and linked the Pablano Roll. Ahem…I didn’t realise I had to comment on EACH blog being nominated. That’s like….loads. LOL. So..ahem, please take this as an announcement that you have ALL been nominated!! Yay!!! (this excludes those that have already been nominated for this…yay!!!!). Thank you and yay!! hehe.
- Ask your nominees 5 questions and include one that’s a weird or funny.
Ok…hmm..( I make a horrible interviewer)..
- Why do you blog the things that you blog?
- What are your favourite genre of books and whom would you consider your all time favourite author?
- I think that the world is going mad, do you?
- What makes you follow and read a particular blog?
- What’s one really (to you…doesn’t have to be for everyone) weird fact about you?
~does a victory dance~ I did it!
- Share a link to your best post
Well, I don’t know which is my best post, but I do have one that has the MOST views. The reason for it having the most views however isn’t very inspiring – the image that I have used for the blog post can be found when you do a Google (image) search for The Lord’s Prayer.
And those are the rules!
Now for part 2: my answers to Dean’s questions.
What do you love most about blogging?
Well..I think what I love most about blogging is that I can “write” without any “structure”. For the past two years, I’ve been working as a medical writer. It’s a job. Well, to be honest it turned from something fun to “a job”. Mainly through my own fault. Medical writing is cool. I get to write. I get to be a little creative, that is as creative as the rules allow me to be and of course depending on the client’s wants. I left this lovely world of WordPress for almost 3 years and when I came back just this past month, I realised how much I missed it. The interaction with people, reading and learning stuff from other people’s posts, and writing things that meant something to me..and hopefully to others too.
What is the best thing to come from blogging for you?
Those I consider my friends. Not all those who have visited me I would call friends, but there are some whom are. And I am grateful for their support, love, kindness and just overall awesomeness!
If you were told you could only ever write ONE more blog post, what would it be?
A blog post to tell people that it is ok to be not 100% ok 100% of the time.
Let’s pretend you are sitting beside yourself as you’re about to write your first ever blog post. What would you tell your former self?
Wow..my first ever blog post was probably in 2002…and not at a very good time. What I would tell myself at that time, wouldn’t have been about my very first blog post…it would have been something very, very different…it would have been some advice to me then..about life…about not being scared…about it being ok to stand my ground…about it being ok to let go…about making sure that I value myself…that I can make a decision that takes me into account, without worrying about others…because the others can take care of themselves.
You’re commissioned to write a blog post for a celebrity/author/entrepreneur promoting their newest product on your blog. Who/What is it?
Stephen King. And the blog post would be about the personal story of “counting the ways I love, Stephen King”. In fact..I’ve already written such a post..before. Ha! (It just wasn’t commissioned).
Whoo! Done! Yay!!
